MEPTIC was founded in 2002 as a non-governmental, science-based hub providing a wide range of medical journalism, academic, and research services. Over more than two decades, MEPTIC has evolved beyond the conventional role of a medical journalism institute into an academy dedicated to advancing medical journalism, research, and scholarly communication.

Our academic activities extend across a broad range of disciplines, from cancer research and public health to ophthalmology and ocular diseases, while also supporting multidisciplinary research that brings together different areas of medicine, biomedical science, and health research.

Academic Services

Publishing Support Package:
As a partner to research centers, and drawing on more than 20 years of experience in medical journalism, we provide a range of professional publishing services, including English-language editing, artwork preparation, web hosting, digital archiving, and reference formatting.

We also produce full-text articles in XML (Extensible Markup Language) format that complies with an appropriate DTD (Document Type Definition) for journal articles.

One of our key strengths is our ability to maintain regular, timely publication schedules while supporting broad geographical diversity among authors and editors.

Research Support and Funding:
MEPTIC is committed to supporting the development of scientific research in regions where researchers and students may have limited access to research resources. Through selected initiatives, we provide research support and funding opportunities for students and researchers from developing countries, helping them develop research projects, strengthen their scientific skills, and contribute to the international biomedical literature.

Our support is not limited to a single medical specialty. We encourage multidisciplinary research and collaboration across clinical medicine, biomedical sciences, public health, epidemiology, medical education, and related fields, with particular experience in areas ranging from oncology and systemic diseases to ophthalmology and ocular disorders.

Academic Workshops:
We have successfully organized several medical journalism workshops worldwide, including workshops held during the World Ophthalmology Congress in Tokyo, Japan, entitled “Detection and Management of Fraud and Plagiarism in Publications” and “Pearls to Publish a Study in High-Impact Journals.”

Through these activities, MEPTIC seeks to build an academic environment in which research, medical journalism, education, and scholarly communication work together. Our mission extends beyond facilitating publication: we aim to support researchers throughout the research and publication process and to promote the development of scientific capacity, particularly among students and researchers in developing countries.
